The Wildcats varsity soccer team turned the Brandon Blackhawks into bird feed with a 3-0 shutout win on Monday, April 25.
‘We definitely played our game,? varsity head coach Larry Ferris said.
Senior Amanda Roth recorded the games first goal 53 seconds into the game and senior Beth Downs had two goals to lead the Wildcats. Junior Brianna Johnson had two assists in the game.
‘They seemed to turn it around and got more into the team play, and we are really struggling with the communication on the field and they are starting to get into that and learn that it is an important part of the game,? Ferris said.
Senior goalie Sarah Stroope was extremely busy in the net as the Oxford defense held the Blackhawks without a shot during the game.
‘I was very happy with them and very pleased with the results and hopefully we can carry it on,? Ferris said.
Oxford got run all over the field against Royal Oak in a 6-1 loss on Thursday, April 21.
‘We didn’t play a good game at all,? Ferris said. ‘They were fast and we were totally out of our game. We went to a different system and it didn’t help us. That was just a bad game.?
The Wildcats are 2-2-3 overall and will battle Pontiac on Thursday, April 28 at 7 p.m. at the OES soccer field.
