On Feb. 26 the Brandon Blackhawks boys swim team won their second straight league championship.
In the six-team meet, the Blackhawks won six of the 12 events with 560 points, 130.5 more than runner-up Fenton. Individually, the Blackhawks placed in the top three in the 12 events.
The Blackhawks, who finished their season 5-0 in the Metro League, surpassed their 443-point total last year, said Brandon Coach Todd Duncan.
Saturday’s meet title, along with the 5-0 Metro dual-meet record, gives Brandon the overall league championship.
‘We had a group of six guys that led the way for the team,? said Duncan. ‘They are all very dedicated and they just click as a team. Each morning at 5:45 a.m., about 60 percent of the team were in the pool for a non-mandatory swim.?
Blackhawk swimer Reece Lamson led the team by winning four events including two individual events.
Lamson also won the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly in addition to participating on Brandon’s winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams, meeting state standards in all four events, said Duncan.
Results: 1. Brandon; 2. Fenton; 3. Holly; 4.Lapeer; 5.Swartz Creek; 6. Kearsley.
