By a 4-0 vote on Monday night the Atlas Township Board of Trustees accepted the resignation of trustee Scott Statson.
Applications for the remainder of his term, which runs until November 2012, are now being accepted at the Atlas Township offices, 7386 Gale Road.
The deadline for filing an application for the seat will be 4 p.m., March 8. Those interested must be a resident of the township, be able to attend regular meetings and participate in a variety of special meetings.
The pay is $5,618.04 per year.
‘Scott did a great job for our township over the past several years,? said Shirley Kautman Jones. ‘His departure from the board was due to a job transfer.?
Statson was reelected to his third term as township trustee in 2008, winning the primary election in August on the Republican ticket. He ran unopposed in November.
In addition to more than 10 years as a trustee, Statson, 42, served eight years on the township planning commission. He was absent from the January and February board of trustees meetings.
As of Feb. 21, township residents Gary Schafer, Charles Kreiti, Beth Forys, Richard Misek, and Paul Amman have applied for the seat.
