Hoopsters put Lahser in its place

The boys basketball team avenged its previous two-point loss to Oakland Activities Association leader Bloomfield Hills Lahser with a 51-43 win on Friday, Feb. 4
Junior Mark Hazelwood had a season-high 26 points on 7-12 shooting, including three three-pointers, and five rebounds, senior Chris Calvin chipped in seven points and eight rebounds and junior Jacques Toussaint had eight points and seven assists to lead the Wildcats to victory.
Oxford used a big second quarter in which they outscored Lahser 19-11 to take a 27-20 lead at halftime.
Lahser cut the lead to 37-32 by the end of the quarter, but the Wildcats put the game away with a 14-11 fourth quarter.
The Wildcats were able to keep Lasher at arms distance thanks to solid defense and timely free-throw shooting.
Oxford finished 17-25 from the free throw line, while Lahser went 5-12.
Head Coach Paul Marfia gave credit to the defense for not allowing Lahser to penetrate their defense and get easy buckets.
Overall, the Wildcats sit at 5-7, and 3-5 in the OAA Blue. They play at home against Birmingham Groves on Thursday, Feb. 10.
