Goodrich-The village council voted 5-0 to contract Municipal Consulting Services of Ann Arbor to perform an organizational and operational review of the village government.
Mark Nottley provided an overview of the project, which will begin on Jan. 31 and be completed by April 11 at a cost of $11,700.
‘We will take a look at costs, service scope (what employees do) output and service quality over the course of the project,? said Nottley. ‘We’ll take a look at alternative services. Once all the data is collected we can then determine the best way for the village to go. Things could stay the way they are, too.?
Nottley said he will build a data base and present the material in a way everyone will understand.
‘The pros and cons will be in that report,? he said. ‘I have not done a survey where sufficient money was not saved to pay for the project.?
The company has worked for Grand Blanc, Mundy Township, Davison, Davison Township, and Auburn Hills to name a few, added Nottley.
The decison for MCS comes after a proposal to study the inner workings of the village was tabled by the village council on Dec. 13 by a 3-2 vote. Councilmembers Phil Jackson, Pete Morey and Richard Horton voted no. Wartella and McAbee voted for the study.
Craig Frankland, management consultant for Southfield-based Plante & Moran, had offered a proposal to the council for a study regarding numerous aspects of the village, including core services, administration, and Department of Public Works. The report was suggested at a previous meeting and Jackson contacted three companies to do the report. The study would have been completed in about one to one-and-a-half months at a cost of $15,000 to $20,000. to the village, said Frankland.
