Addison Supervisor Bruce Pearson can check off another item on his to do list for the township.
Pearson was pleased to report that installation of the new siding on Milmine Hall, located at 1447 Milmine St., is expected to be completed this week.
‘We are happy that we are getting things done around here and it’s a pleasure to have things moving forward,? he said.
Eleven contractors submitted bids and the township went with the lowest bidder, the Oxford-based Genesis Building & Development, Inc. The bid was $16,200.
All of the old siding was taken off of the building and replaced with new cedar siding and reinforced it with some OSB boards. A new stairway was added at no extra charge to the township.
According to Pearson, the only thing that is left to be done on the building is to repaint it, which Pearson said that a painter within the township would volunteer to do it.
The project has been on Pearson’s to do list since the first day he stepped into the office. It was mentioned to him by the Cemetery Auxiliary on his first day. He told the group he would get to it as soon as the township could allocate the funds.
It took over a year to find the money because at the time Pearson took office, the township was trying to raise funds to save the Arnold School building.
‘Now that we had that one settled, we automatically went on to this one,? said Pearson.
Milmine Hall is one of the oldest mercantile commercial building left standing in Oakland County. It is currently used by the Lakeville Cemetery Auxiliary for fund-raisers.
