Atlas Twp.-After closing the 70-year- old Green Road Bridge just east of M-15 following a Dec.13, 2008 inspection by engineers from Flint-based WadeTrim that deemed the structure unsafe’motorist began using the new span this weekend.
The GCRC board of directors approved the plan on April 7.
Workers from Montrose-based Heysteck Construction Company, who started the project in the summer completed the project after plans for the new bridge were completed in June. Project bids were sent out in July and construction began in August.
Township Supervisor Shirley Kautman-Jones said funding for the project will come from the general township fund.
