MSP arrest pair suspected in home invasions

Two suspects wanted for a series of daytime burglaries in southwest Lapeer County, in addition to Brandon, Hadley and Metamora townships, were arrested following a traffic stop in Oxford Township.
At about 3:30 p.m. Sgt. Joseph Vandermeulen, from the MSP Lapeer Post, stopped a gold-colored Honda near Baldwin and Oakwood roads. Troopers arrested Steven James Schell, 32, and his wife, Elisabeth Schell, 26. A search warrant executed at their Clarkston residence recovered several items including cameras, cash, and handguns.
Sgt. Pete Burkett, of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Brandon Township, said the pair are suspected in several burglaries in the township.
‘The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office will be seeking warrants for home invasions, ? he said. ‘This had been going on for several months. However, there are more burglaries going on out there. We will continue to actively seek out these individuals’breaking and enterings are everywhere.?
Both suspects were lodged in the Lapeer County Jail.
Steven Schell had eight prior convictions for property related crimes. Both were charged with three counts of home invasion, second degree, 15-year felonies.
