Goodrich- Two village youth are still recovering from burns they received following a fire at the Goodrich Apartments on Sept. 27.
Nathan Lintz, 4, and his brother Bodie Lintz, 2, were rushed to Hurley Medical Center’s Burn Unit in Flint following a blaze that destroyed their home at about 4 a.m. Bodie, who received burns to his arms, shoulders, the tops of his feet, face and ears, covering 40 percent of his body, spent a week in the intensive care unit at Hurley. Nearly two weeks since the fire, he remains hospitalized
‘Bodie is now out of the Intensive Care Unit and is eating solid food,? said Amber Van Epps, the mother of the boys. ‘Nathan is home and doing well’his burns covered about 20 percent of his body. Both are expected to fully recover’however it’s going to take some time. This community has been outstanding’the boys have toys, clothes and our needs as a family have been met. The Point Church, along with The Bullring Sports Bar and Grille and many others in this community, have just overwhelmed us with meeting our needs.?
The Lintz family were among nine individuals who were without a place to live following the early morning fire. Michigan State Police Fire Investigator Sergeant Specialist Lenny Jaskulka was on the scene on Sept. 28. Jaskulka reported the cause of the fire appears to be electrical in nature. He also said the upper section of the 100-year-old building was a total loss, while the lower rooms received water and smoke damage.
