43-year-old Leonard resident Eric LeFeuvre died Wednesday morning after striking a tree that had fallen onto Leonard Road.
At approximately 11:45 a.m., he was driving a GMC Yukon in the 1400 block of East Leonard Rd near Secord Lake when he struck the tree, which caused part of the tree to strike the windshield, entering through the passenger compartment and killing LeFeuvre.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, LeFeuvre had a cell phone in his hand, but they were unsure if he was using it at the time. He was not wearing his seatbelt, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
The tree had recently fallen into the roadway because of the high winds from the storm.
The Oakland County’s Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the incident.
