The Varsity Boys Soccer Team ran their record to 4-1 on the young season after they defeated the Farmington Hills Harrison Hawks 3-1 on Monday night.
It looked like the game was headed for a tie, but the Cats scored twice in the last 10 minutes to clinch their fourth win in a row.
Varsity Head Coach John Thaler was proud of the way his team rebounded against Harrison after they blew a two-goal lead against them last year.
‘I reminded the boys before the game lets not let that happen. Those who played for me last year keep that in mind, play with that intensity,? said Coach Thaler. ‘My Senior’s and my returning players from last year stepped up.?
Senior Travis Roth, Sophomore Marco Bonfiglio and Senior Corey Olson each scored a goal for the Wildcats.
‘The theme for the night was intensity,? said Thaler.
The win came off of a successful weekend for the Wildcats where they defeated both Cilo and Flint Kearsley 2-0.
Sophomore Mike Kitchner and Senior Adam Cook each scored a goal in the first half against Kearsley, while Roth and Bonfiglio scored against Cilo. Olson and Senior Steven Ferguson assisted on the goals against Cilo.
‘The weekend was great…they controlled the ball against Cilo and it carried over against Kearsley. Overall the weekend was real positive,? said Thaler.
The boys travel to Goodrich on Wednesday, Sept. 2 before getting eight days off before their next match on Sept. 10 at North Farmington. The next home game is Monday, Sept. 14 against Cilo.
