Vegas start to model career

A week modeling in Las Vegas was nice, but Samantha Seng is ready for more.
“It was a lot of fun ? I definitely want to continue,” said Seng, Clarkston High School senior who won the trip this past January in the Senior Portrait Artists Model competition.
She is planning a trip to New York and maybe Chicago this summer for auditions.
“If it works out, I’d love to move to New York,” said Seng, who lives in Springfield Township with her parents Sue and Dan Seng, and her sister, Shaina, 15. She also has a brother, Dan, 29.
“I’ve wanted to be a model since I was a little girl,” Samantha said. “It seemed fun for me.”
“When she was about 2 ? years old, she would always be posing, smiling, dancing,? said Sue Seng. “When she sets her mind on something, she goes after it. She’s very strong willed.”
Her senior portrait photographer, Scot Orser of Lake Orion, entered her picture in the contest. She was among 15 models picked from about 1,300 submissions from across the country and Canada.
“I was speechless. I couldn’t believe I won,” Samantha said. “We were super busy the whole time, constantly moving.”
‘It was a lot of fun and a lot of work, a great experience for Samantha,” Sue said. “She got to meet a lot of people and experience part of what models go through.”
The event included a runway fashion show and photo shoot in Red Rock park. To prepare, she worked with local modeling instructor Linda Hyman.
“When I first went out on the runway, I was nervous, but after that first one, I was OK with it,” Samantha said. “It went so quick, so many outfits.”
Plans also include classes at Oakland Community College, studying to be a pediatrician.
“If modeling picks up, I’d probably do that first, then go back to school,” she said.
