The Wildcat Baseball team finally broke trough in the win column, defeating Grand Blanc 12-11 in the first game of their double header on April 25.
Nick Tombrella led the Wildcat offense, going three for four with a homerun and four RBI’s. Mitch Stefanski went two for four with a triple and an RBI, and Eric Perry and Kyle Hartwick each had two RBI’s for the Wildcats.
Perry took the win for the Wildcats, pitching six innings and striking out six while walking two during that span. He also gave up 18 hits and seven runs.
Even more impressive than the first victory of the season is what happened during the second game of the double header. Midway through the game, the Wildcats had the bases loaded when a huge storm rolled through, causing an immediate end to the game. Besides finishing the game, the storm caused damage to the playing surface, turning over bleachers and damaging the backstop.
After the wild weekend, the Cats took on Kearsley on Monday April 27 and lost 3-1 in a rain shortened game after five innings. The bats went silent after the offensive outburst against Grand Blanc, they only managed four hits and one run. They also struck out 10 times in the five inning game.
Wildcat starting pitcher Keith Parslean had another solid outing, scattering eight hits and three runs, two which were earned, over the five innings.
The Wildcats followed the Kearsley losses with two 10-0 losses to Fenton on May 4th.
