Architect awarded for Holcomb home

Clarkston Architect Gary J. Gavulic won two first-place design awards for a recently completed Clarkston residential renovation project.
Gavulic restored a home at the corner of W. Washington Street and Holcomb Road, featured in the 2008 SCAMP Home Tour. The project won honors for ‘Best Restoration of a Historic Residence? and ‘Best Addition to an Existing Residential Structure.?
Joining him at the March 3 award ceremony were his wife, Natalya, homeowner Charlotte Cooper, general contractors Jeff Harrell and Chase Harrell, and designer Patrick Zaremba.
Detroit Home Magazine presented the awards at its 2009 Design Awards competition. Eight judges, including Parsons School of Design’s chair of architecture, and editors and writers for Architectural Record, New York Times, House Beautiful, and Traditional Home, selected winning entries from more than 600 submitted projects.
