Bowlers still rolling

The Wildcat Varsity Bowling Teams kept their strong seasons rolling with convincing wins over Linden.
The Varsity Girls won 29-1, while the Varsity Guys won 28-2.
Oxford Freshman Heather Lafnear led all bowlers with games of 196 and 175, and Senior Caption Ashlee High bowled games of 178 and 173. In the baker matches, Senior Liz Laframboise picked up two points, and Senior Anna Moses, along with Junior’s Sarah Decker and Kelly Cartner, each picked up a point. Oxford won both baker matches, 157-132 in game one and 164-116 in game two.
Oxford Coach JR Lafnear likes the way his team is playing. ‘The team is bowling well and is poised to make a run in the Oakland Country Tournament next weekend,? he said.
The guys bowled equally strong games and matches. The highlight was Oxford’s Russ Fergunson scoring his first points of his varsity bowling career in a 165-126 win in match play. Steven Lafnear, Mike Magyar and Brandon Burgess were a perfect four-for-four in the two baker matches.
Ben Chizmadia led the bench scoring with a 214, scoring a point along with 189 games from both Scott Compau and Brandon Wynkoop.
With the victories, the Girls improved to 4-0 in Flint Metro League play, and 5-0 overall. The boys record is 3-1, 4-1 overall.
