0-2 Lady Cats hope to rebound against Clio

The Oxford High School Girls Basketball is off to a slow start with consecutive losses to Lake Orion and Troy.
The ladies lost 66-52 to Lake Orion Dec. 2 and 54-27 to Troy Dec. 4.
In the Lake Orion game, Allie Laidlaw led the way with 15 points while Jessica Raisch had 12 points. Joelle Harms had 9 points and 6 assists.
‘Lake Orion’s pressure defense was just too much for us at times [that night],? said Head Coach Al Poynter. ‘They are very good at what they do, and they cover a lot of ground.?
In the loss to Troy, Harms led the way with 12 points. Poynter had harsher words for the team’s loss to Troy. ‘I was very disappointed with our effort,? he said. ‘We came out flat in the third quarter. Troy is a well-coached, hard-nosed team that came out and took advantage of the situation. We have a lot to straighten out before we open league play next Friday at Clio.?
The Dec. 12 game against the Clio Mustangs begins at 6 p.m. and will be the Wildcats? first Flint Metro League match.
