Records, wins continue for Cat swimmers

Even week-old records are meant to be broken. Last week’s 1:56.20 time in the 200-Yard Free Relay fell when Oxford’s A Relay Team of Allison Woonton, Anna Daves, Claire Patrell and Jenna Mallard broke it with a time of 1:54.70 at the Oct. 11 Oakland County Meet.
Besides breaking another record, the Wildcat swimmers had a very successful Oct. 14 swim meet against Swartz Creek as they drowned the Dragons 128-55. The Wildcats are now 2-1-0 in Flint Metro League aquatic competition.
Oxford finished the meet with 11 first-place finishes, including two individual and two group finishes for Woonton, and seven second-place finishes.
Against Swartz Creek, the Oxford swimmers and divers did as follows:
200-Yard Medley Relay: The A Team of Mallard, Woonton, Patrell, and Daves took first place with a 2:14.90 time while the B Team of Ellen Saville, Emily Gilmore, Kristin Simmers, and Sarah Skelton took third.
200-Yard Free: Mallard took first with a time of 2:22.96. Skelton came in second while Kaitlyn Kimmel came in fourth.
200-Yard Individual Medley: Woonton finished first with a time of 2:29.50, Patrell second and Caroline Kerbelis fourth.
50-Yard Free: Daves took second while Saville took third.
