Ever wondered what it feels like to be Katie Couric or Peter Jennings, or the eye behind the camera? Then perhaps you would be interested in Interning or volunteering to help start a new News Show, led by Sean Redenz of Clarkston Public Access Channel.
“It’s going to be a regular news show, we’ll have people go out on the street doing real news,” he said. “But we’re still looking for volunteers to be our talent and do that.”
Redenz has also talked with Independence Township Assistant Fire Chief Bob Elizano and Fire Marshall Greg Olrich about having a Public Service Announcement that’s safety oriented.
“What would be a better way to have a segment of show, but to bring to life things in the community,? asked Elizano. “We thought of it as not just a fire safety but more of a broader safety message.”
Which could include not only the fire department, but also the police department, life guards, Department of Public Works.
“Just someone every week doing a safety message,” he said. “So the people of this community can understand when they see someone out there doing something and what it’s for.”
“Once people start knowing that it’s on once a week they’ll start following it,” said Olrich.
The length of the show whether a half hour or an hour will depend upon community participation, noted Redenz.
‘How many people want to get involved (and) how many people want to do this,” he said.
Internships or volunteering is open to any age.
“If there are any high school students for example who are working for a high school paper and they want to get involved in a project like this by all means come on down,” said Redenz. “It’s a community building, it’s here for the public, this show is for the public.”

“Someday we hope to make it a living billboard for our community,” he said.
