Food, fellowship and fun will be on the agenda for Immanuel Congregation United Church of Christ as it hosts an Open House Saturday, Sept.13 and Sunday, Sept. 14 to give the public a glimpse of what goes on inside the church’s ‘old brick walls.?
The event is open to church members, both new and old, along with non-members who simply want to learn more about the 129-year-old church.
Festivities begin Saturday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. with a barbecue meal and performance by the Oxford High School Jazz Band. Michael Brody, a hypnotist, will do a presentation. There will also be Guitar Hero competitions, face painting, a Tumblebus and a Moonbounce.
The Open House continues Sunday with a 9:30 a.m. choir reunion rehearsal. Walk-ons are welcome.
Church services will begin at 11 a.m., and Pastor Paul Kuntzman will preach the message ‘Different Strokes for Different Folks…??
After the service, a luncheon will be served featuring great food and fellowship.
A nursery will be made available for preschool children.
All events are free. However, donations will be accepted.
Immanuel is located in the Village of Oxford at 1 Hovey St. Additional parking is available in the nearby municipal lot.
