Meet and greet

The Orion Area Chamber of Commerce hosted new Village Manager Paul Zelenak at their monthly meeting last week, held in Green’s Park.
According to Zelenak, he has been in municipal government for almost 20 years, and was happy to return to a community like Lake Orion, where people are actively involved in their community.
‘I’ve tried to meet as many people as possible and get out to many community events,? he said, noting that he is happy to speak with anyone who has a question or concern related to the village.
According to Zelenak, the village is working on making some improvements, such as with the roads, sidewalks and storm sewers, in the future.
He said they are also working with the village engineers on replacing the bridge at Meek’s Park, although the bridge will likely be in a different position than previously.
Improvements are also being made at Atwater Park with their fencing and parking, and some decorative light poles being added along M-24.
‘I want to make this a clean, walking family-friendly community that everyone can be proud of,? Zelenak said.
‘We want people to really be jealous of our downtown,? he added.
According to Zelenak, it’s Lake Orion’s historical significance, people, organizations and businesses that make it unique.
‘We are trying to make (Lake Orion) a destination point and something we can be proud of,? he added.
Zelenak said anyone who is interested in discussing a village-related issue can contact him at (248)693-8391, ext. 101, or by e-mail at zelenakp@lakeorion.org.
