Want to enjoy a little vino in a beautiful setting?
On Saturday, July 26, the Orion Art Center is hosting a summer wine tasting at the home Bob and Candy Lytle.
‘The Lytle home sits on five wooded acres on Indianwood Lake and is the perfect setting for an enchanted afternoon gathering,? said Orion Art Center Director Reggie Harrison.
According to Harrison, the wine tasting will feature a variety of wines, as well as ‘delectable gourmet appetizers? provided by local restaurants and live entertainment.
All of these features will be enjoyed in the Lytle home, a unique 3,600-square-foot English Revival manor built in 1929 by leading Detroit architect Marcus R. Burrows, as a summer home for affluent Detroit banker Frank Blair and his wife, according to Harrison.
The home was also owned by ‘Bonanza? actress Winnie Coffin, and later by Orion Art Center founding member Joan Brace, she added.
‘The Lytles purchased the home in 2004 and have worked to bring it back to its original grandeur,? Harrison said. ‘The home boasts hipped gables, three chimneys, mullioned casement windows, Pewabic & Rockwood tiles on the sun porch and 200-year-old planked floors in the living room, probably brought from a manor in France or England, and many other wonderful surprises.?
Tickets for the summer wine tasting are $35 per person, with all proceeds benefiting the Orion Art Center.
Call the art center at (248)693-4986 to reserve tickets for ‘this special summer event and see this outstanding Lake Orion gem with your own eyes,? Harrison said.
