While the former HealthFirst Urgent Care Center may have a new name, it still has the same great patient care.
One way of ensuring that continuity of care is with the retention of Dr. Vince Guglielmetti.
Guglielmetti, or ‘Dr. G? as he is referred to, is the medical director of the urgent care center, which was purchased by St. Joseph Mercy Oakland.
‘We do full physicals to sports physicals, child immunizations to pap smears,? said Guglielmetti. ‘That is why family medicine/urgent care is my specialty. I love the variety and pace of a busy office.?
SJMO’s Lake Orion Urgent Care is open 24-hours, seven days a week, and treats all kinds of non-life-threatening concerns, such as coughs, earaches, sore throat, fever, minor cuts, sprains, minor rashes or burns, ear infections, minor asthma-related symptoms and minor stomach ailments.
But if a patient has a serious injury or illness, Guglielmetti is happy the urgent care facility is linked to a hospital.
‘This urgent care center provides me with direct communication with the hospital for admissions,? he said. ‘It’s a seamless service. The computers help cut down on time in an emergency.?
According to Guglielmetti, as he enters the patient’s information, the hospital is receiving it simultaneously through an electronic link to SJMO. The information is then immediately available to the attending physician when the patient arrives at the emergency room, a practice that saves time, which can prove to be critical when a patient’s condition is serious or life-threatening.
Guglielmetti believes SJMO Lake Orion Urgent Care is in the right place at the right time.
‘Lake Orion is one of the fastest growing communities in Oakland County,? he said. ‘Many families needed to travel to local hospitals for care. Our urgent care fulfilled a need for emergency care outside of a hospital setting.?
Not only is it well placed, but Guglielmetti enjoys practicing at the urgent care facility because of the nature of the community.
‘It’s a family-oriented, well-educated, athletically-rich community,? he said.
‘The patients in Lake Orion or families who come to Lake Orion Urgent Care are treated like family,? Guglielmetti added. ‘I appreciate my patients and I am honored to care for them.?
At SJMO’s Urgent Care, appointments are available, and walk-ins and new patients are always welcome.
Patients are encouraged to seek follow-up care from their own family physicians. If they don’t have one, they will have an opportunity to select a primary care physician through the SJMO referral program. Most insurance plans are accepted.
