If you’re tired of shopping for clothing at the same cookie-cutter retail stores that sell one shirt in a million different colors, then it’s time for you to try Ella Clothing.
The boutique-style ‘shop,? which makes its home at the residence of Oxford resident Lisiane DeCampos, features unique clothing and accessories from the South American country of Brazil.
When looking for a creative way to make money after her two young sons were born, DeCampos decided she’d sell her mother’s fashion designs north of the equator.
Her mother, Marineide DeCampos, designs fashionable clothing and accessories for small companies in Brazil and sends the items to her daughter in Oxford every other week.
‘She sends me pictures of collections they’re doing for whatever season it is and then I choose what I think will fit in here in this country,? DeCampos said. ‘Then I buy it and she ships it to me.?
The stylish fashions, ranging from tops, pants, suits, jewelry, belts, bags and even swimsuits are one in a million, but won’t cost you millions.
‘Everybody’s first impression when they come here is that there are many different colors, the fabric is different, the cut is different and it’s comfortable,? she said. ‘It doesn’t matter what size you are, they really show your curves if you have them.?
Women anywhere from teenagers to 50-year-olds will be able to find something from Ella Clothing. Whether you want a flashy top for a night on the town, or one to go grocery shopping in, DeCampos can find the right fit for your lifestyle.
‘You can get these pieces that nobody else will have, but it’s still affordable,? she said, adding that she doesn’t sell more than two pieces of the same item.
Prices at Ella Clothing range anywhere from $12 to $86 and sizes range from 0-14 and the quality of the clothes is impeccable.
Although she sells clothing for all seasons, DeCampos is most excited about her summer line that has the most color and is ‘funky.?
‘Usually, I have a little bit of everything,? she said.
DeCampos knows what it’s like to be a busy mom and how mothers unconsciously fall into a rutt when it comes to fashion.
‘When you try to dress up a little, you feel better about yourself, about your body,? she said.
Another keyword for working moms is convenience. Ella Clothing will make shopping for your next outfit a breeze.
Usually, she hosts open houses on weeknights at her home at 1043 Woodbriar Dr. where anyone can stop in and shop the boutique. Kids are also welcome and are watched by DeCampos? nanny or husband while waiting for their big sister or mom to try clothes on upstairs.
Equipped with a private changing room, clients can peruse through tables of accessories at the ’boutique? and pick clothes from a closet while fun rhythms of Latin music play in the background.
‘It’s convenient for me and for the person that’s coming,? she said.
Those looking to shop at Ella Clothing can also make appointments to visit the shop or DeCampos can make house calls.
In opening her own shop featuring Brazilian wear, DeCampos has hoped it would help people understand and learn more about the unique culture and fashionable clothing.
‘People have this idea that Brazil is a tropical country and all they have is carnivals and naked girls on the beaches,? DeCampos joked. ‘But it has so much more than that.?
