Book discussions
New members are always welcome for the monthly book discussions held at the library September-June. Our meeting dates for November are:
Tuesday, March 11 at 2 p.m. The Hungry Ocean by Linda Greenlaw

ESL Conversation Group
Every Tuesday from 10-11:30 a.m.
The group is open to all who wish to practice their English language skills in a relaxed and informal setting.
The topics vary widely, and it is a great learning experience as well as an opportunity to meet people. Child care is provided.

THE GREAT MICHIGAN READ
Join us as this program continues into April. For every Hemingway book you read and/or program that you attend, you can be entered into a drawing for a Michigan themed prize! For details, contact the adult reference desk.

Enjoy classic films based on Hemingway’s life and writings. Popcorn will be provided!

Sunday Special Events
Night Lights Dixeland Band
Sunday, March 9 at 2 p.m.
The Night Lights Dixieland Band is based in Lake Orion and plays traditional jazz music.
Selections include pieces played by early New Orleans bands as well as traditional jazz from the 1930’s and 40’s.
The band features a front line of trumpet, clarinet and trombone and a rhythm section of piano, bass and drums, and has been playing in the Oakland County area for over 10 years.

Looking for a challenge? Stop in and play a few games. Sets are provided but feel free to bring your own.

Teen Programs
Teen Tech Week
March 2-8
Teen Tech Week will be the official launch of video games that will be available to check out. Come on Thursday, March 6 to see what we have and be the first to try out the new video games.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl Tourney
Friday, March 14, 7-9 p.m.
You can be the first on your block to Brawl with Mario after the March 9th release. We’ll have the tournament after hours. Prizes and refreshments available. Call to register.

Book Nuts Book Club
Wednesday, March 5 at 7 p.m.
Itching to discuss the new book you’re reading? Want to know what other teens are reading?
Want to know what’s new in teen lit without having to talk about it with your English teacher? Then come to our book club. Hang out and talk books.

Teen Advisory Board
March 15, at 1 p.m.
The advisory board for Teens meets monthly. Come if you’re interested in developing programs, designing the teen bulletin board, getting community service hours, talking pop culture, music and interesting books, and eating pizza.
Also looks good on resumes and college applications down the road.
