Breaking through the ice

A hat trick from Tyler Frakes in the third period topped the night.
The Wolves brought a strong defense to the ice and made more shots on goal.
The reward was beating Port Huron Northern, 7-2, in the opener of the MHSAA pre-regional playoffs.

In the first period, Adam Frank was the first to score. He was assisted by Dan Smith and Aaron Podbielski.
Port Huron Northern’s John Hayes tied the score.
Tyler Frakes brought Clarkston back into the lead with assist from Frank and Jack Schlau.
Chris Salo was next to make a goal, bringing the Wolves, 3-1 at the end of the first period.
Podbielski, assist from David Cannons and Michael Fiteny, assist from Jeremy Messing put more points on the board in the third period.
Frakes ended the game with two unassisted goals.
Garrett Knappe made 22 saves.
The team made 32 shots on goal
Earlier in the night, Rochester Unified won their game against Lake Orion, 3-2 in overtime.
The Wolves will play Rochester Unitied on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
The winner of the Wednesday game will go on to play the winner of the Bay City pre-regional games.
Both games are held at McMorran Arena, 701 McMorran Blvd, Port Huron 48060.
