It is not known what the board discussed during an executive session, on the pending litigation filed by former assistant to the supervisor Jill Verros, prior to last week’s regular board meeting.
What is known, however, is that the discussion was lengthy (over 45 minutes of talk on an issue that was admittedly supposed to take less than half of that) and a split vote on how to proceed.
The board voted in open session to proceed as directed by a 4-3 margin (Trustees Matt Gibb, John Garlicki and Neal Porter were the dissenters).
That moved, coupled with Verros? hiring of a new attorney (Deborah L. Gordon) last week, could signal that both sides are moving toward the final stages of an agreement.
Gordon specializes in employment matters. Her office officially took the place of E. Patrick Murray in late November.
Township Supervisor Jerry Dywasuk said it’s fair to assume that the negotiations are ongoing and that an actual trip to court could be averted.
Based on their vote last Monday, the township will now apparently wait for Verros? side to act and then the matter will come back at a future executive session.
