Spikers beat Holly

The Oxford Varsity girls volleyball team is off and running in their quest for the Flint Metro League championship.
The Wildcats swept league foe Holly last Thursday night in the Broncho’s arena, 25-8, 25-16 and 25-18.
‘We completely took charge from the moment of play and really put them away fast,? said coach Kristi McDevitt.
Standouts of the night were senior Karlyn Stroope, who had 14 kills and two blocks, junior Brittany Moncrieff with her 10 kills and three blocks, and senior libero Jacqui Sylva, who had 18 digs and 12 for 14 in passing.
Senior middle hitters, Kelsey Giradot and Rachael Precour combined for six blocks of the night.
‘The girls are on a mission and we have been anxious for the start of league matches, so all their hard work in practice could finally be put to use,? McDevitt said.
The girls? record improved to 8-4-1 overall and 1-0 in FML. They travel to Lapeer West Tuesday, Sept. 25 for a 7 p.m. game.
