Bats Incredible!

Children enrolled in the Oxford Public Library’s Summer Reading Program got to hang out with live bats last Wednesday when the Organization for Bat Conservation visited Oxford.
Dale Smart, biologist and educator with the Bat Zone at the Cranbrook Institute of Science, brought three bats with him for the program: a Mexican free-tailed bat, a Jamaican leaf nosed bat, and a straw-colored African fruit bat.
The kids learned a great deal of information about bats, such as there are nine types of bats in Michigan alone and they contribute greatly to our lives and well-being.
