Car crash kills Oxford teen

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in an automobile crash that took the life of Oxford resident Calvin Cody Zimmerman early Thursday morning.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department, the 19-year-old was traveling south in the northbound lane of Coats Rd. when his 1994 Saturn car struck several wooden guard posts on the east side of the road.
The 2006 Oxford High School graduate lost control of his vehicle, ran off the roadway and struck a tree.
Oxford firefighters had to extricate Zimmerman, who was trapped inside his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at 4:20 a.m.
The Oxford teen was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, which is still under investigation.
