Little Monsters celebrates one year

For a year now, little monsters can be found in downtown Lake Orion. Well not actual little monsters, but Little Monsters, a specialty toy store, opened their doors a year ago.
Located at the corner of Flint and Broadway Streets, owners Chris McKenna and Leila Freijy are excited to see how their business has grown in the past year.
‘It’s hard to believe that at this time last year, we were painting walls, designing business cards and learning how to run a credit card machine,? Freijy said. ‘It seems like ages ago. Time has sped by.?
As Freijy and McKenna think about the last year, a recurring topic for them is the support they have recieved from the Lake Orion community. McKenna said that they have received fantastic support from other business owners, the Village offices, the newspaper, the Lake Orion Police Department, the Downtown Development Authority (DDA), the Art Center and most importantly, the local customers.
‘They care so much about us and how we are doing,? she added. ‘They tell us over and over that they are glad we are here. They come in and shop for birthdays and holidays, give us ideas and send in their friends.?
To thank the community for their support and to celebrate their first anniversary, Freijy said they wanted to give their customers a special gift.
‘We decided to make a huge gift basket and enter shoppers into a drawing for it,? she added. ‘The basket contains their favorite things – a Sleep Sheep, a Kikkerland windup toy, Putamayo CD, Automoblox, LadyBug Land, Ann Tainter postcards and an Ugly Doll, to name a few items.?
Also in the basket is an original watercolor created by Freijy.
The drawing for the anniversary basket is July 15. For each $20 spent in the store until then, they will enter you in the drawing. The gift basket is worth over $250.
