Goodrich-Superintendent Kimberly Hart has come close to landing several area jobs, but as of press time Thursday has not been offered a position.
Hart was one of two finalists in the running for the position of superintendent of Kenowa Hills in Grand Blanc, but fell short of a job offer following a 4-3 vote by the school board naming Tom Martin, superintendent of Hopkins Public Schools, to the post.
Additionally, Hart was one of eight vying for the available superintendent position in Oxford, but did not make the cut to the final three candidates.
Hart has also thrown her hat in the ring for superintendent positions in Croswell-Lexington Community Schools and the Parchment School District.
Carl Hartman of the Michigan Association of School Boards has been involved in the search in both Parchment and Oxford Schools and said most districts are looking for similar things in a superintendent.
‘The ability to walk on water,? Hartman said with a laugh. Falling short of that sort of perfection though, Hartman said districts want someone who can be involved in the community and communicate well with staff, students and teachers.
As of press time, Hart was still in the running in Parchment, with a decision expected by Friday. Thirty-five people applied for the position, said Hartman, with Hart in the final three.
Hartman said Hart has received favorable feedback from those interviewing her.
‘Kim’s a good candidate,? said Hartman. ‘She’s a very strong candidate and I think if she wants to move she’s going to be able to.?
A representative from Croswell-Lexington was unavailable for comment, but Hart was not listed as one of the final two candidates on the school’s website.
Hart has been under increasing scrutiny in the district, with ongoing union issues and communication difficulties drawing the ire of some in the community.
