Junior Kortni Elsworth had a pair of high-scoring games as the Goodrich varsity girls basketball team continued to roll in the Genesee Area Conference.
Elsworth scored 20 points as the Martians defeated host Atherton 62-27 in an Oct. 3 game, improving their season mark to 9-1 overall and 8-0 in the GAC Red Division.
Ashley Short also scored in double digits for the Martians with 11 points, while Casey Tubbs added nine points.
The Martians proved their mettle against a quality opponent Sept. 28, defeating New Lothrop 45-34 in a Genesee Area Conference matchup.
‘I’m hoping that goes a long way with us,? Goodrich coach Jason Gray said. ‘Last year, we had a good year but didn’t get the quality wins we’re accustomed to.?
Elsworth played a strong all-around game for the Martians, scoring 25 points and added 11 rebounds, six steals and three assists.
‘She was something else,? Gray said.
Tubbs added eight points for the Martians, while Autumn Haggadone added seven.
