Goodrich’s varsity girls cross country team finished in the upper third of competitors in Division 2 action at the Spartan Invitational Friday, Sept. 15 in East Lansing.
The Martians placed 11th out of 34 teams at the invite, with a team score of 336. Grand Rapids Christian won the meet with a team score of 76, well ahead of second place East Grand Rapids (149) and third place East Lansing (171).
Goodrich senior Kelsey Meyers earned a top-25 finish among Division 2 individual competitors, placing 23rd out of 228 runners with a time of 20:30. Freshman Sunney Mahalak was next up, placing 60th in 21:30.
Other Martians contributing to the team score were senior Jenni Brothers (61st, 21:41), freshman Kayla Jung (88th, 22:07) and freshman Chelsey Balanger (98th, 22:28).
