Thieves caught, then get in even more trouble

Getting caught for stealing merchandise is bad enough, but having illegal substances in the vehicle while getting caught certainly doesn’t help the cause.
According to an Oakland County Sheriff’s Department report, two women in a silver Volkswagen were stopped in connection with a retail fraud at Famous Footwear on Baldwin Road.
The suspect, a white female in her 40s, and the driver, a black female, were detained by Lake Angelus police. A positive ID was given from the store keeper, and the stolen merchandise was recovered in the vehicle.
In addition, the female suspect was known as a possible drug abuser. A canine check of the vehicle revealed a positive hit on suspected heroin.
The heroin was recovered within the scope of control of the driver and both women were arrested.
Other suspected retail fraud evidence and items were located in the vehicle as well.
