Old Newsboys to collect in Goodrich

Goodrich- Last year 9,000 area children were a little bit warmer thanks to those who were a bit colder.
From dawn to dusk on Dec. 9, volunteers from Old Newsboys of Flint will brave winter weather to hawk their publication for area children near the intersection of Hegel Road and M-15. Proceeds from the collection will be used to purchase winter apparel for children in an effort to uphold their mantra. No child shall miss school for lack of coat or shoes.
It’s been more than 80 years since the Old Newsboys of Flint first collected for the area and now Goodrich will have the opportunity to pitch in to help with their ultimate goal, ‘No child shall miss school for lack of coat or shoes.?
‘We’ve never been to Goodrich due to a shortage of newsboys,? said Laurie Goff, executive director of Old Newsboys in Flint.
‘In the past we could not spread them out across Genesee county enough. Still, it’s been a difficult year. With the economy so bad the need is much greater and the donations thus far are down by about 20 percent.?
If you would like to make a financial donation or volunteer for the Old Newsboys of Flint, or need their assistance, you can contact the organization at 3216 Lapeer Road, Flint, MI, 48507.
