New officers preside over Goodrich school board

Goodrich – Michael Tripp has replaced Michael Thorp as president of the Goodrich Board of Education, since new officers were elected at the July 18 school board re-organizational meeting.
Also new is secretary Jim Bertrand, who replaces exiting board member Shane Tiedeman. Vice president Ken Rappuhn and treasurer Gary Foltz were re-elected to their previous offices.
Thorp, who has served four years as president and more than a decade as trustee, trusts in the guidance Tripp can offer, but says he’ll miss introducing children leading the pledge of allegiance. He’s ‘terribly proud? of the expansion of the arts program, as well as other decisions made while president.
‘I did what I thought was the right thing without anything to gain,? he said. ‘It was for the kids, the community, the taxpayers.?
Tripp sees no major changes in the direction the board will take under his leadership.
‘We want to work through this to make sure to get the district back on track, where it needs to be,? said Tripp.
