The Orion Township Fire Department was called to a garage fire on Merritt at about 3 p.m. on July 11. Smoke from the fire could be seen from M-24. Orion Township Fire Chief Jeff Key said the garage was fully involved in fire when firefighters arrived, and was a complete loss, including the contents inside. ‘There was a lawnmower and a vehicle inside, and typical garage stuff,? he said. ‘There was also a vehicle sitting out in front that sustained some heat damage.? Firefighters were on the scene until about 5 p.m, and Key said an exact cause has not yet been determined, although the fire looks to be accidental. Photo by Lisa Valentine.
