A 2002 Dodge Dakota pickup truck driven by a 51-year-old Oxford man collided with a gravel train July 6 at the intersection of Metamora Road and M-24. According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s report, the gravel train ‘entered the roadway with flashers activated? and was proceeding southbound on M-24 when the Oxford driver, also headed southbound, ‘failed to slow or change lanes.? The pickup truck then struck the gravel train from behind. Witnesses reported the Oxford driver ‘did not slow or appear to use (his) brakes at all.? He was transported via ambulance to Crittenton Hospital in Rochester Hills and cited by deputies for ‘careless and negligent driving.? The driver of the gravel train, a 20-year-old Dryden man, was not injured.
