Four stained glass window panels in Lake Orion’s Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church are featured as June’s Windows of the Month for the Michigan Stained Glass Census. This is a program of Michigan State University Museum.
The four windows represented the four elements of the liturgical seasons: Air, facing north, Fire, facing south, Water, facing east and Earth, facing west.
The windows feature a pattern of 24-karat gold luster in the shape of a square with an inner circle enclosing a double cross. The square symbolizes the four elements; the circle symbolizes the earth.
The windows were designed by Elizabeth Devereaux of Chico, California.
Windows of the month are selected based on subject matter, technique, seasonal theme, type of building, age and region in the state.
