Walking for a cure

The American Cancer Society held its annual Relay for Life fundraiser in at the Lake Orion High School track on May 22-23, raising $101,000 this year for cancer research.
The event kicked off at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning, as teams gathered and prepared to spend 24 hours walking for a cure.
Cancer survivors gathered and did their ‘victory lap? at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
This year’s final total was a about a 15 percent increase over last year’s total, which was $89,000.
The goal to raise this year was $100,000.
Lake Orion had 31 teams take part in the 2005 Relay for Life.
