Looking for something to do outdoors this spring? Paint Creek Trailways is hosting ‘Meet Us in the Middle? to celebrate National Trails Day on June 4.
From 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m., drop by the former Paint Creek Cider Mill Restaurant at 4480 Orion Road. Kids will be able to enjoy a tent and inflatable bouncer. Visitors can drop by the trail tent to buy merchanise and pick up plenty of informational hand outs. There will be giveaways and prize drawings.
Also on site is a ‘Hiking Michigan? exhibit tent and a ‘Friends of Paint Creek Trail? sign up tent.
The new one third mile trail segment at Atwater Commons in Lake Orion will be dedicated at a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Awards will be presented for the new trail and property donations.
Two organized trail hikes are scheduled for 10:15 a.m. The first one is from Atwater/M-24 south to the Paint Creek Cider Mill. The hike is approximately 4.2 miles.
The other hike begins at the Rochester Municipal Park to the Paint Creek Cider Mill and is approximately 4.7 miles long.
A Paint Creek Trail Prairie Remnant activity is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.-noon. Join Dinosaur Hill naturalists as they spotlight local prairie remnants located along Paint Creek Trail in Oakland Township.
Stencil your favorite prairie plants onto T-shirts. This is lots of fun for kids and the whole family. All ages welcome. No registration is required.
Meet at the prairie project north of Gallagher Road parking lot, west of Orion Road.
Michigan Senator Mike Bishop is sponsoring a free community lunch at the cider mill site from noon-1:30 p.m.
During that time trail founders and financial contributors will be honored. More giveaways and prize drawings will take place for National Trail Days participants.
