Brandon’s boys track team finished in the upper half of their division at the Saginaw Valley State University Invitational April 22.
The Blackhawks finished seventh out of 15 teams in Division 2 at the invite with 48 points. Yale took first place with 91 points, while Flint Powers Catholic finished second (81.5) and Linden third (63).
Adam Hyde excelled for the Blackhawks, earning a first place finish in the 300 meter hurdles (40.85) and second place in the 110 meter hurdles (16.21). Jason Ledgerwood also placed in two different events, taking second in the high jump (5?8?) and fifth in the 300 meter hurdles (43.14).
Other individual finishers for Brandon were Steve Pierce, who finished third in the pole vault (11?); Mitch Walker, sixth in the shot put (39?4-1/2?); and Kyle Worden, sixth in the discus (113?11?).
In addition, the 1600 meter relay team of Hyde, Ledgerwood, Brendon Moquin, and Phil Sache took fifth (3:40.80), while the 800 meter relay team of Jawan Simpson, Jonee Harris, Matt Crandell, and Stefon Johnson finished seventh (1:38.74).
