Feel like you have to sacrifice old-fashioned courtesy to get the latest medical technology when you choose a family physician? Not at The Country Doctor.
“Country Doctor” Christine Sypitkowski, D.O., believes it’s possible to have both, and she’s based her Lake Orion practice on that philosophy.
Dr. Sypitkowski has been practicing medicine for 15 years, and for nearly two years in Lake Orion. Her family practice covers sick visits, well baby exams and immunizations, physicals, Pap/Gyn exams, minor injuries, treatment of hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes and other chronic medical conditions, as well as preventative medicine.
The County Doctor even does home visits if necessary (must meet certain criteria to be covered by insurance).
Patients are welcomed by the friendly and competent Kim Lutz and Kathleen English, who work as both receptionists and medical assistants.
“It’s not a big practice. Patients will always see the same doctor, and my personal care is a one-on-one relationship,” says Dr. Sypitkowski.
Dr. Sypitkowski likes to sit down and really talk to her patients and get to know them, not only as a patient with a medical ailment or condition, but as a person.
“I have had the opportunity to get to know many more local families through the kind referral of patients,” she says.
“I emphasize personal care, and I have watched new born babies grow into healthy, happy children, and I’ve mourned the loss of loves ones with my patients.”
Dr. Sypitkowski is an Addison Township resident and was recently elected to the Addison Township Board of Trustees after serving on the planning commission.
“I’ve been a local resident for the past nine years, and I am actively involved in the community,” she says. “I am an Orion Chamber of Commerce member, and I participated in the Women’s Expo at Echo Grove for the last two years.”
The Country Doctor also participated last year in the Orion Business Expo, the Lake Orion Christmas Parade, the Strawberry Festival and Parade in Leonard, and provided emergency first aid at the Scripp’s Mansion for Arts, Autos and Architecture.
Dr. Sypitkowski is on the staff at Crittenton Hospital in Rochester, and she graduated from medical school at Michigan State University.
She calls her practice a balance of traditional values and the latest science available.
“I have the latest computerized EKG and Pulmonary function testing machines,” Dr. Sypitkowski says. “They give state of the art results to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of various heart and lung diseases.
Laboratory blood draws are done in the office and sent to the lab,” she says. “Patients appreciate not having to make a separate trip to have their blood drawn.”
Dr. Sypitkowski started out in internal medicine, but switched to a family practice because she wanted to treat patients of all ages.
“I really enjoy what I do,” she says, adding that she is board certified in Family Practice.
While she is on the cutting edge of technology, Dr. Sypitkowski keeps the decor at The Country Doctor cozy and inviting.
“I like patients to have a feeling of comfort and of feeling at home,” she says.
The Country Doctor has day, evening and weekend hours. Patients can call and arrange hours that are convenient for them.
“If someone needs to come in the evening, I’ll work my schedule around them,” Dr. Sypitkowski says.
