Nova Care works toward well-being

NovaCare Rehabilitation is a national physical therapy provider with seven clinics located in the Metro Detroit area. The Clarkston office, located in the Clarkston Medical building on Dixie Highway, offers a wide range of programs in physical therapy and general well-being.
Clients may work with a clinical team of physical therapists, physical therapists assistants, and athletic trainers during their time in the clinic.
The 10,000 plus square foot facility offers many programs, one of which is traditional physical therapy. Admissions into this physical therapy program requires a physician’s prescription and treatment is aimed at restoring motion, strength and function in patients who have been injured.
NovaCare specializes in treatment of orthopedic problems such as bone and muscle injuries. In addition, NovaCare Clarkston has a staff of individuals qualified to treat clients with neck and back pain, spinal disc problems, TMJ, headaches and pain associated with auto accidents, work related injuries as well as other types of injuries.
Aquatic therapy or ‘water therapy? is also offered at this location. A SwimEx pool may be used as a part of a client’s physical therapy program as determined by the physician and physical therapist.
A patient may be in physical therapy a few weeks or even a few months. Jodi Hines, Manager of Clinical Operations for Southeastern NovaCare, comments on the relationships that the staff develops with their patients.
‘When patients come here, they spend a lot of time with our staff,? said Hines. ‘We build relationships with them while they are here and that makes helping patients even more rewarding.?
And often times, those relationships continue long after the patient has finished their formal physical therapy treatment. Many individuals who have completed their rehab, come back to the clinic to show the staff how well they are doing since they ‘graduated? from the program.
Hines says, ‘It’s such a wonderful feeling to see a person happy and fulfilled after working with us. The staff is privileged to be a part of their recovery.?
After graduation, some clients choose to continue exercising in the fitness program offered at this clinic. This program is not a structured rehabilitation program, but is an informal setting where clients have access to strengthening and cardiovascular conditioning equipment, and perform exercises under the guidance of an athletic trainer.
NovaCare Clarkston is proud of these programs that it currently offers and is committed to developing new programs for its clients.
The staff is especially excited to announce that a new procedure will soon be offered at the clinic ? Anodyne treatment. This Medicare-approved infrared treatment program can be used as part of a patient’s treatment to help reduce pain. It is especially helpful for treatment of neuropathy in diabetic patients. NovaCare Clarkston will be one of the only centers in the area to offer this type of treatment.
Another unique service that NovaCare provides is an injury hotline that has been created to assist residents in the community with injury-related questions. The hotline is available 24 hours and incoming calls are answered by Mike Perkins, A.T.C., a Clarkston staff member. Mike advises the caller and helps guide them to the services that they need.
NovaCare has been helping members of the community for over 6 years and looks forward to continued relationship with Clarkston residents.
