Michigan Eye Institute of Oxford gets new look, says ‘thank you’ to loyal patrons

The Michigan Eye Institute (MEI) of Oxford is celebrating their third birthday this year, and what better way to celebrate than to get a face-lift?
The 1,500-sqaure-foot building at 53 S. Washington St. has been through some drastic changes, which include a new 1,000-square-foot seating and retail display area with beautiful maple-stained cherry hardwood floors.
A couple walls were torn down to give the once small, enclosed space a brighter, more open-air feeling. The previous waiting area is still the same, however, new carpeting was installed.
MEI now has a special room for contact lenses, an eye examination and testing room and one room for optometrist Dr. Anne Marie Kautz.
‘We’re real happy with the expansion,? said Brian Hayes, practice administrator for MEI. ‘It has helped with the patient flow.?
With offices in Oxford, Flint, Fenton and Lapeer, MEI offers an affordable, comprehensive eye care team capable of managing any medical or surgical problem of the eye for patients of all ages.
MEI’s services range from routine eye examinations and optical services to treatment of complicated medical and surgical eye problems. Services include thorough eye examinations, no-stitch cataract surgery, LASIK surgery, glaucoma care, diabetic care, macular degeneration care, pediatric eye care, dry eye treatment, eyelid surgery and low vision aids.
Hayes said some of the services Dr. Kautz is able to provide on-site at the Oxford location are complete eye examinations, fittings for eyeglasses, prescription sunglasses and contact lenses, laser vision correction screenings and foreign body removal.
MEI also carries over 600 frames, which include designer signatures, like Georgio Armani, Hugo Boss and Gucci. They also now carry contacts made specifically for athletes which reduces glare when outside.
Hayes said MEI strives to keep their loyal customers coming back, and that they’re thankful for the continued patronage.
‘We don’t rush you through,? he said. ‘The fast-paced retail stores are geared more towards one-time sales. Our pricing is competitive and our service is fabulous.?
MEI is not only a servant to their customers, but to the community. They frequently hold fund-raisers for the Oxford High School Marching Band, participate in the Women’s Expo and will be participating in Celebrate Oxford this weekend.
Above of all, though, Hayes wants MEI’s customers to know that ‘we’re here for them.?
‘We want to thank them for their past business and their future business,? he said.
