Brandon Twp.-When school ended in June, long time Brandon High School art teacher Margaret Hall moved 20 years of personal art supplies from her classroom to her home.
This August, Hall’s daughter Jennifer Polasek will help pack up those same supplies and haul them back to the very same classroom her mother had occupied.
On Aug. 9 the Brandon School Board approved Jennifer Polasek as the new high school art teacher replacing her mother Margaret Hall who retired last spring.
‘I’m looking forward to teaching in the Brandon School District,? said Polasek.
‘My mom encouraged me to teach art and I come from a teaching family,? she said. ‘I really like the high school aged students.?
As a child Polasek said she tagged along with her mom to class and was encouraged to pursue a career in art after winning the Gold Key award for textile art as a senior at Waterford Kettering High School.
In 2000, Polasek earned a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from the University of Michigan-Flint, and in 2004 completed her Masters of Education-Leadership from Oakland University.
Since August 2000 Polasek served as an art teacher at Discovery High School Four Towns Campus and since 2001 taught art at Waterford Mott High School.
‘Students stay very busy in my class,? said Polasek. ‘I don’t want students to get frustrated.?
