Brandon Twp. – On July 22 Kay Green who had been campaigning for township trustee dropped out of the Aug. 3, primary election.
Green, who works for a state funded agency, just became aware that a state employee can not run for a partisan office while still employed with the state.
‘I am currently in the process of finalizing the withdraw,? said Green who added that she is grateful to her supporters and would like to publicly thank the community for their support.
As it is too late to take her name off the ballot, Green is asking anyone who would have voted for her to cast their ballot for one of the other qualified candidates.
While she is unable to hold a partisan office, she is still able to hold the nonpartisan council seat for the village of Ortonville and plans to remain there.
‘I will continue to enjoy and serve the village residents with the same dedication and enthusiasm I have for the past 14 year,? she said.
