The Lake Orion varsity softball team advanced to play against Clarkston in the Division I regional quarterfinals after soundly defeating Troy in the semifinal game on June 12 at Utica High School.
The Dragons won 8-2, breaking Troy’s 27-game winning streak. Lake Orion scorers came alive in the third inning as Bristel Brumitt, Kristen Larsen, Nichole Woityra, Kelsey Stout and Amber Agro all scored. Lisa McDonald had three RBI in that inning.
Larsen scored on a two-run homerun in the fourth inning, eventually ending the game 3-for-3 with three runs scored.
Lake Orion pitcher Robin Roe pitched a complete game, striking out four and giving up five hits.
Woityra ended the game with three hits, while Stout had two and two RBI, and Agro had two hits.
The Dragons went up against Clarkston on June 15 and results from that game were not available at press time.
