Brandon’s May 7 game against visiting Fenton came down to a matter of desire.
Coach Greg Back said the Tigers showed a lot more of that quality than his Blackhawks team did that game, and the end result was a 9-2 Fenton victory, leaving the Blackhawks at 1-6-4 overall and 0-3-3 in Flint Metro League play.
‘Our effort wasn’t up to par,? he said. ‘They just outplayed us.?
Brandon’s lone bright spots were freshman Meg Donnay, who scored a first-half goal, and junior Jacqueline Back, who tallied a second-half score.
Brandon expected to get a boost last week with the return of starting goaltender Elizabeth Kennedy. The freshman had been kicked in the face during a game against Holly and missed a week of action. Sophomore Emma Donnay filled in as the starting goalie during Kennedy’s absence.
‘That hopefully picks up the rest of the team,? Greg Back said of Kennedy’s return.
