Spraying for Gypsy Moths to begin Saturday

The Oakland County Gypsy Moth Suppression Program will begin aerial spraying by helicopter of the biological insecticide ‘B.t.? on Saturday, May 15, weather permitting.
Spraying will begin at sunrise and take place at various forested residential locations in Oxford and Addison townships. The project should take one or two days to complete. All people within the areas being sprayed have been notified.
The insecticide is designed to reduce high populations of Gypsy Moth caterpillars. ‘B.t.? is a biological insecticide that occurs naturally in the soil and is not harmful to birds, bees, fish, mammals or humans. It will not contaminate ground or surface water.
